Summary

We spent 7.4 hours reading reviews from experts and users. In summary, this is what basketball players think:

8 reasons to buy

  • These Nike basketball shoes have top-notch traction, nearly all reviewers assert. According to them, the traction pattern provides 360-degree coverage and is hardly affected by dust.
  • Many users observe that the traction seems to be durable enough for outdoor play.
  • The foam midsole feels incredible, most testers declare. They claim that the foam has very good compression, a little bit of bounce, and feels quite plush.
  • According to most owners, the forefoot Zoom unit feels similar to the Nike LeBron 16’s. It is responsive and very stable.
  • The engineered mesh upper is very strong and supportive, almost all testers state.
  • The materials don’t take long to break in, several players remark. It just feels incredible once broken-in.
  • The Nike Zoom Rize’s asymmetrical lacing provides exceptional lockdown, a significant number of testers report.
  • These high-tops have excellent ankle support, some owners note.

2 reasons not to buy

  • The traction picks up quite a bit of dust, many testers report. However, they say a quick wipe will do the trick.
  • The Nike Zoom Rize doesn’t have the best court feel, some reviewers gripe

Bottom line

The Zoom Rize is an excellent team basketball shoe from Nike. These high-tops have all the boxes checked and then some. The traction, cushioning, and materials all work exceptionally well. Everything else—support, lockdown, stability, and containment—works close to perfection.

Overall, the Nike Zoom Rize gives the Nike AlphaDunk a run for its money. These high-top basketball shoes perform better on the hardwood and are also a lot cheaper.

Very nice cushion setup. Very bouncy in the forefoot. Very nice impact protection in the heel. An, of course, the traction is amazing. For the fit, support on the upper is also very very good.

The Nike Zoom Rize is simply an outstanding shoe and does enough to fight for a top spot among 2019 performers. It epitomizes what a team shoe should be, providing benefits to all types of players. Yes, it looks bulky and I understand that court feel is a strong preference for a lot of players, but I’d still encourage anyone considering the Zoom Rize to give it a go – there’s just too much to love in this sneaker.

For 140 bucks, I would highly recommend getting these shoes. Like I said, the only problem I really had was the lateral containment issue at the forefoot, and even then it wasn't major because I didn't feel my foot rolling off the footbed a lot. It was very very minimal, but I could definitely feel it.

It's a good quality basketball shoe. It's well made and stuff like that. Performance—I love playing in this.

Zoom past the defense and rise over your opponent with these high-top basketball shoes from Nike. The Zoom Rize lets you elevate your game with its extra-large Zoom unit. The shoe’s mid-to-high-top collar provides containment and support while an asymmetrical lacing system keeps you locked-in all game long.

Cushion. The Nike Zoom Rize boasts foam midsole with a large Zoom unit at the forefoot. The Zoom cushioning provides a bouncy sensation under the ball of the foot for amazing responsiveness.
