Made to last beyond the volleyball season, the Asics Gel Tactic is crafted from materials that are built to last and withstand the intense gameplay. The breathable upper material is reinforced with overlays that prevent tearing, as well as delivering the needed support during quick foot transitions. The sole unit is made of several layers of special foam that reduces shock while a gel component further reduces impact at the heel. As for the outsole, it is engineered to provide adhesion on indoor court floors to prevent slipping.
If a more breathable pair of volleyball shoes is what you’re after, check out the Asics Gel Tactic 2. It sports the same low-top silhouette but the synthetic overlays have been replaced with printed ones; thus enhancing the aeration.
Traction. The Asics Gel Tactic employs the NC Rubber compound. This material uses more natural rubber than solid rubber, which gives it its sticky nature. It is non-marking so no ugly streaks will be left on polished floors. A pivot point is placed under the ball of the foot to facilitate smooth twists and turns.
Stability. The segmented layout of the outsole helps keep the foot steady during side-to-side movements. The Trusstic System reinforces the arch area, preventing it from overly stretching or twisting while playing. This unit maintains the structural integrity of the footwear without adding too much weight to it.
Shock absorption. Two layers of SpEVA make up the midsole of the Gel Tactic. This unit has 20% more rebound than traditional ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam. It is able to effectively convert the energy from the impact to push off for the next step. Sandwiched between the two SpEVA layers, visible at the lateral side of the heel, is the Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System. This element amplifies shock attenuation during heel landings.
Comfort. Inside this Asics volleyball shoe is an EVA sockliner. It takes the form of the bottom of the foot for maximum foothold and comfort. It also prevents slippage inside the trainer. It is removable, accommodating the use of custom orthotics if needed.
Breathability. The Asics Gel Tactic employs an open mesh upper. This material aids in ventilating the foot chamber to prevent the foot from excessively sweating or getting too hot. The interior of the shoe is enveloped with a soft fabric that delivers a comfortable in-shoe experience and helps with moisture management.
Protection and support. Because mesh can easily tear, synthetic overlays protect some parts of the top, which include the vamp, the midfoot, and the heel, to prevent premature tearing. A toe guard is placed on the forefoot which protects the toes against painful bumps and serves as an extra layer against abrasion.
Lockdown. A traditional lace-up closure secures the foot inside the footgear. This component also facilitates fit adjustments. The synthetic overlays are integrated with the eyelets, so tightening the laces heightens the lateral and medial support of the upper.
- The Asics Gel Tactic is marked with the APMA Seal of acceptance. It is given to products that have been determined to promote foot health.
- The upkeep on this product is pretty easy. Wiping dirt off with a damp cloth is the quickest way to remove surface dirt. However, if there are any stains, use a brush or cloth dipped in a warm soapy solution to scrub them off. Follow it with a wipe down using a damp cloth. Be sure to air-dry the footgear for a few hours before using it again.
