Asics crafted the Gel Blast 7 to emulate stability and motion with its design. The upper employs unique styling elements that are not only pleasant to look at but also serve to protect the foot and keep it supported. The midsole has layers upon layers of cushioning technologies to reduce shock traveling from the foot to the rest of the lower leg. As for the underside, it is constructed with a durable and grippy compound that prevents slippage on smooth surfaces.
Traction. The outsole of the Gel Blast 7 is made from three types of rubber: AHAR+, Asics’ proprietary compound that is durable and also offers cushioning; Wet Grip, a type of rubber that retains its grip even in wet conditions; and NC Rubber, which has more natural rubber compound thereby offering more traction on indoor court floors. All of the compounds are non-marking. There’s also a pivot point under the ball of the foot which facilitates smooth transitions without hurting the knee.
Stability. As for steadiness, the outsole employs the Impact Guidance System (IGS) which promotes a smooth heel-to-toe transition. The arch area is enhanced by the Trusstic System. It reinforces the middle portion to prevent excessive twisting without adding weight to the shoe.
Cushioning. SpEVA is the primary midsole component used in the Asics Gel Blast 7. It has a bouncy nature which helps in energized jumps while also decreasing the risk of early midsole deterioration. Asics’ Gel technology is found under the forefoot and the heel. These elements help relieve pressure and amplify the shock attenuation of the midsole.
Support. DuoMax Support System is placed on the medial side of the midsole. This dual-density layer prevents excessive inward rolling of the foot. Inside the trainer is the ComforDry sockliner. This layer wicks moisture away from the foot for a more comfortable and dry in-shoe experience. It conforms to the shape of the foot to prevent slippage. It is removable and can be replaced with custom orthotics if needed.
Comfort. The top of the Gel Blast 7 is made from mesh. This lightweight material ensures that the foot is able to move with ease. It is also breathable to cool the foot chamber. In front, the PGuard Toe Protector helps wearers avoid painful toe bumps.
Foothold. The Dynamic Wrap innovation is found on either side of the midfoot. This panel, made of synthetic material, supports the middle of the foot during jumps and fast movements. Its strategic location guides the foot to return to its normal position.
Fit. The Flexion Fit Vamp is designed to be form-fitting. The rearfoot uses Asics’ Personalized Heel Fit (PHF) innovation wherein the collar has two layers of memory foams that conform to the wearer’s heel. This creates a customized fit that prevents heel slippage. The asymmetrical lacing system follows the natural contour of the foot for an enhanced foothold while also reduces the risk of chafing and blisters.
